Speech & language therapy in Walton on Thames and surrounding areas

What we offer. Room

Many children are able to learn language and communicate easily with their parents, friends and other adults. But for some children, this doesn't happen. This can be a worrying time for parents. You may wonder if you need to be concerned and what you can do to help.

A speech and language therapist is a professional trained to work with you and your child to assess if your child needs a little extra help, and if so, what options are available. This may involve direct therapy with your child, training for people who work with your child, or activities that you can do at home. Often a combination of these can be most helpful.

If you would like us to see your child for speech and language therapy, we will see them in our therapy room in Walton-on-Thames, or at their nursery or school. An adult who can continue to do the therapy activities between appointments will usually need to sit in with us, as this helps the child to make the most progress in their therapy, and encourages them to continue using skills they learn at home or in school/nursery. When therapy sessions happen in our therapy room, this is usually a parent, nanny or relative, and at school, it is often a teaching assistant.

Therapy may consist of working directly with your child, activities for you to do with your child or training for people working with your child. Typically a combination of these is the most successful, and especially when parents are able to carry on with therapy activities between their sessions.

Alongside appointments in our therapy room, we are also able to travel to homes, schools and nurseries within Walton-on-Thames , and surrounding areas in north Surrey. We may also be able to travel outside of these areas, but travel costs may be charged (please contact me for details).

We am also able to offer bespoke training packages, for example, for school and nursery staff, childminders, parent groups and other professionals. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
